Suspect behind death of Kakamega Homeboyz defender arrested

The initial dates for the Super Cup was the weekend of Saturday 5th March but they are now scheduled to kick off Saturday 12th March.

In a bid to hand KDF player Sgt. Daniel Mwangi who passed away, the Kenya Handball Federation has announced new dates of the 2022 Super Cup.

Mwangi tragically passed away on Monday 21 February after he was hit and died on spot by a speeding car, which lost control at the Nyayo National stadium footpath.

The 34-year-old played for KDF senior and youth teams, was coming from an afternoon training session at the Nyayo Stadium handball court.

The initial dates for the Super Cup was the weekend of Saturday 5th March but they are now scheduled to kick off Saturday 12th March.

The federation released a communication on Wednesday 23 February confirming the new dates for the Super Cup which were put in place after the tragic death of Mwangi.

“Kenya handball federation wishes to inform you of the new dates of Super Cup 2022 following the demise of KDF player Sgt. Daniel Mwangi who died after being knocked down by a vehicle that veered off the Road at Nyayo Stadium Bus stage just after the day's training.

“By this letter therefore, kindly let’s stand together KDF and the young family of the deceased as they plan to give him a befitting send off," read part of the communication.
